The Center has always been committed to continuing education to better serve our families. Today we're proud to announce that we have two therapists certified in VitalStim therapy.

VitalStim Therapy, a specialized type of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), is a therapeutic intervention used to treat dysphagia. VitalStim Therapy uses an external device that provides electrical stimulation to educate the throat muscles needed for swallowing. Custom-designed electrodes are placed on the surface of the neck/throat to target swallowing muscles. Following an evaluation of the client’s swallowing abilities, a certified speech-language pathologist (SLP) or occupational therapist (OT) administers this modality of treatment during feeding activities and/or exercises.
If you have a child that might benefit from VitalStim treatment please contact The Center to discuss your options.
